The Capital Chamber Music Society is a not-for-profit group that furthers the knowledge and appreciation of chamber music in the Greater Lansing area by organizing concerts by professional musicians in local residents’ homes. Experiencing a home concert (or salon concert) is at the heart of the Capital Chamber Music Society mission and brings chamber music into venues for which the compositions were originally intended. Such concerts, arranged primarily at the private residences of the Society’s members, invite the interaction of members and artists in an informal setting and create transformative experiences of music making and sharing. In addition to engagements by professional musicians, the Society encourages performances by emerging university and community groups to further their education and community involvement. The Capital Chamber Music Society also seeks to provide access to master classes, to music education talks by visiting artists, and to open rehearsals – all in service of promoting musical and cultural exposure to the world of chamber music for our diverse community members.
